Things We Love
I know it has been a while. I’ve been diligently making presents for my little ones. I will have an update for you all after the new year, but I wanted to share the holiday greeting that I designed and sent to all of our loved ones. I definitely love my readers as well.

Workin’ Wednesdays: Feast or Famine
The feast or famine cycle is real! Brainstorming side hustles is what I’ve been up to. During my business’ down time, I try to increase my networks by building relationships with people in my niche. I also use the time when I’m not designing as an opportunity to market heavily. The only problem with this is that the bills keep rolling in. :-O
I’m now looking at ways to create mailbox money for myself (i.e cash that rolls in when I’m not doing anything). Some of the stuff I’ve come up with include downloadable template designs, developing a few WordPress themes, and joining Sugardaddies.com. The last one is a joke, but seriously, times are hard.
Workin’ Wednesdays: Pat My Back & I’ll Pat Yours
There’s nothing like a repeat client, who also gives referrals. Emmy award nominated choreographer, Jeffrey Page, hired my design firm, Suuru, again. The brother has sent numerous dollars in my door — referring three paying clients in the last two months. Here is the mock up of the e-newsletter that I designed for him last week. It doesn’t include all of the info that ended up in the final html version, but I did set a link through to his You Tube channel, so you can check him out, hire him for a residency, to choreograph a video, or to teach your grandma how to Dougie *wink.* Enjoy!
Workin’ Wednesdays: DJ Smiles Davis

I recently had the opportunity to work with DJ Smiles Davis on the redesign of her website. She was a pleasure to work with, and it is always wonderful to meet a fellow artist. During the process of working on her site, I grew to enjoy her mixes — often designing with them playing in the background.
Some people would be satisfied having major accomplishments in one artistic field. Many people train their entire lives and never achieve that. DJ Smiles Davis, however, is not “some people,” and is well into her second successful career, providing the sonic backdrop for musical superstars like Erykah Badu, Janelle Monae, Mayer Hawthorne and Questlove.
She began her professional life with her feet, not her hands. As a company member with the world-renowned Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, she became such a sought after talent that she also served as a movement coach for multiplatinum artist Lauryn Hill and a back up dancer for both Lenny Kravitz and Missy Elliot.
An injury stood as an obstacle in her dance career, and part of her rehabilitation led her to discover her love for turntables. As a dancer, she’d always had an intense relationship with music, but becoming the one to control the groove instead of riding and interpreting it offered her a new avenue for expression.
The music inspired the look and feel of the design, and Smiles was pleased with the outcome.
